EDGY

Funky set for a friend - hope you love it, Jaimie!

Some variations of the Peasant top sets:

The Process

When designing your outfit, I like to start with color/style. I typically ask lots of questions about you and your child, so I can get a sense of your style or needs for a particular dress or outfit. For instance, I may ask if you already know the main color(s) that you want. If you don't, and we're working with a "blank slate", I will ask what colors are the main colors you see when you look in that closet? Are you, as Mom, tired of seeing that color, and ready to inspire her interest in others? Or would you like to stick with the status quo? If you are totally stumped, or ready for a little adventure, I LOVE to give visual examples of colors/patterns, and how to mix them, and that can help you start narrowing down what it is you are looking for.

Then I'll move on to print design - do you like funky, bold, traditional, floral, geometric, dainty, stripes, dots, etc., or a little bit of several things. Some customers even have a theme they want, like "birthday", or "princess", or "kitties", etc.

OK, next, what is the outfit for? Portraits? Play? A specific holiday? A particular event or party? School?

And then, for girls in particular, what is she like? Loves to twirl? Pants only? Girly-girl but no skirts, please? Fussy about comfort? Plays hard and dirty? Never gets a speck of mess on her? All of these things are important to know for me to design the perfect pieces for you.

We'll move on to the garment style from there, and on a very BASIC level we go from the top down, starting with three styles:

1. The Tee Top

2. The Pillowcase Top

3. The Peasant Top

These can all be done in dresses, tops, pant sets, and skirt sets, with endless variations of each! From super ruffly/twirly/busy, to simple/understated/basic.
I love what I do, and can't wait to work with you to create that perfect "something special"!
